Description

Alice Springs Chicken is a mouthwatering dish inspired by Outback Steakhouse, featuring tender grilled chicken breasts topped with crispy bacon, melted cheddar cheese, and a rich honey mustard sauce. This savory, protein-packed meal is perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Toppings:

  • 6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For the Honey Mustard Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken: Season chicken breasts with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drizzle with olive oil and set aside.
  • Cook the Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain. Crumble and set aside.
  • Grill the Chicken: In the same skillet, cook the seasoned chicken breasts for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Transfer to a baking sheet.
  • Prepare the Honey Mustard Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, honey, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and minced garlic until smooth.
  • Assemble the Dish: Spread a spoonful of the honey mustard sauce over each chicken breast. Top with crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Broil: Place the baking sheet under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese melts and bubbles.
  • Serve: Drizzle additional honey mustard sauce on top and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, swap bacon for turkey bacon and use reduced-fat cheddar cheese.
  • Serve with roasted vegetables, mashed cauliflower, or a fresh garden salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
